A donation-with-purchase to support the environment

--

You Shop, We Donate!

This marketing is called Cause Marketing. Cause Marketing is defined as a type of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in which a company has the purpose of increasing profitability while bettering society.

I saw this kind of marketing a lot. I know this campaign is just another marketing strategy to increase company profits. However, at least the company will donate the money to help the environment in some ways… Well, I think it OK to think this way but I cannot stop thinking that this is just another greenwashing.

What betters between shopping for donating or donating directly to charity?

This strategy is somehow opposite to what saving the environment really does. The best way to save the environment is to stop buying. Is it ok to buy cloth and get more trees? Is it effective to buy for the environment?
